Ukraine slaps 65% duty on Russian coal with many exemptions

KIEV, Apr 9 (PRIME) -- Ukraine will introduce a special import duty of 65% on coal transportation from Russia, with exceptions made for anthracite, coals for metals companies, and coals for production of power and heat starting from April 15, the government said in a statement published on its website on Thursday.

“For all types of coal…imported to the customs territory of Ukraine in the customs regime of imports, the duty of 65% (will be imposed) from April 15,” the statement read.

The government exempted anthracite coal imports for all companies, bituminous coal and coking coal for metals companies, and brown, hard, and anthracite coals for the companies that produce power and heating energy.
